Winter Haiku
Formed in unison
Swarming birds spiral downward
Then up towards heaven
Stark against grey sky
Black silhouettes reach upward
Graceful suppliance
Warmth fading shadows
Sunshine bright upon mountains
Clouds sigh in passing
Visits briefly now
Early evening deep shadows
Sun's winter respite
Axe upon wood pain
Hard against tender bark skin
Falls in submission
Winter window pane
Ice forms cold silent witness
White lace curtains stir
