Life's Eyes
When I was young I played
those silly games,
I rode the horse and knew
to hold on to the reins.
I stumbled and fell often
skinned my knees at times,
Wrote a lot of poems often
not having rhymes.
The mirror made me feel
unworthy of life,
Never thought I would grow
up to be a wife.
I was always two steps behind
the rest,
I mingled with the saints I
thought they were the best.
I was to be seen and never
heard,
Oh how I wanted to be set
free like a bird.
To fly as far as life would
let me,
Open my eyes so that I may
one day see.
