Words of Life, Love and Praise

Wash Over Me

The salty sea air billows about me
As I sit upon this hill so high-
Chilly breezes tug at my hair,
Sending lengthy strands to dance at will.

The waves serenade me as they surge to foam
and creep up onto the golden sands below.
Gulls converse gleefully to the sun
as the cliffs claim the curl-

Yet, even this site of great beauty cannot free me…
I cannot shake loose from you-
Must you plague my every breath?
Oh, how I wish life could just once be simple.

As baptismal waters cleanse the soul,
perhaps this heart too, may be restored-
as I allow the salty sea to wash over me.
