For Those That Understand
It seems this madness
Has found me again
So I am reaching out
With this ink, and a pen
"Of the estimated 17.5 million Americans who are affected by some form of depression...
9.2 million have major or clinical depression"
For those that understand
Know you aren't alone
No matter how deeply
Depressions' seeds are sown
"The economic cost of depression is estimated at $30.4 billion a year
But the cost in human suffering cannot be estimated"
I feel so much pain
It grabs hold of my life
Balancing happiness and madness
Upon the edge of a knife
"By the year 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that depression will be the number two cause
Of "lost years of healthy life" worldwide"
It seems like a battle
To go on each day
When my resolve keeps wavering
Slipping slowly away
"Two-thirds of people suffering from depression
Do not seek necessary treatment"
When depression comes calling
I wish I felt nothing at all
I must gather up my strength
I won't let myself fall...
