 A   SHADOW

A shadow that moves
And runs through the night
One minute it was there
As I caught a quick sight

It dodged round the corner
And hid behind a bush
In filigree of moonlight
With a gentle hush

I stepped forward again
It followed quite near
Springing from my steps
And wavering sheer

Arriving at my front door
The eerie shadow did fade
The light stole its thunder
Where shadows aren't displayed
