Heart Of The Matter

No Longer Served

He took you to a restaurant,
Wined and dined by candlelight,
But something deep inside you,
Told you something's not quite right,

You saw him with another girl,
Didn't hear from him in weeks,
His eyes were cold; they didn't match,
The words you heard him speak,

I watch you now with tear filled eyes,
You kissed your love goodbye,
And now you're feeling lost, alone,
And bitter tears you cry,

But let me tell you sweetheart,
You're young, just twenty three,
You're on your own, it's scary,
But can't you see, you're free,

You look to find another,
Someone, who'll do just right,
Someone rich, good looking,
To take you home tonight,

Now sweetheart,
I've got news for you,
You won't find love that way,
There's someone out there for you,
You WILL meet him some day,

He may not be good looking,
Have wealth beyond compare,
But the love you'll find within his eyes,
Is the greatest gift you'll share,

You know he didn't love you,
And your pain, so undeserved,
But you have to leave the table,

When love's no longer served.
