Shadows
Shadows are carried by everyone
Some are passed from father to son
Others attach themselves and never let go
Many come from baggage we have in tow
We all know the ones from daylight
The ones we fear the most come at night
That friendly shadow that attaches to us
Has become the one we trust
Then comes the evil ones that pry at our minds
The ones that carry us back to past times
A slight movement in a dim lit room
Makes you wish for the sun to come soon
Those dark things we can not lose
People without them are few
Dark beings concealed by many ghosts
Using our minds as their hosts
Some can only hold them back so long
Then some force good men to do wrong
It's a never ending battle that some will not win
While others fight against them again and again
Deep and dark they come in all sizes
Always whispering to us their lies
Shadows that attempt to make us their slaves
All of us carry them and will to our graves
