 Teddy Boy

Looking at old photographs
Eyes full of laughter tears
Such a very different ethos
In those Happy Days years

I'd walk with a swagger
Down that Saturday street
Black drainies leading
To winkle pickered feet

Powder blue threads
White tied slim jim
Six foot one tall
Build nice and trim

A fully fledged Ted
Out in pulling gear
Thick black sidies
Well past each ear

Dressed to the nines
Just for the chance
Of a kiss or two or three
At the saturday night dance

That Teddy Boy era seems
So very innocent these days
compared to the current
Young socialising ways

Looking at old photographs
Eyes full of laughter tears
Such a very different ethos
In those Happy Days years
