 I ASKED

Asked him to shovel mud off the sidewalk
It was ignored as though I didn't talk
Asked him to please wear that ring for me
Too much to ask because he wants to look free

Asked him Monday to drop off my water bill
He did it Tuesday now I'll pay more still
Asked him to walk my dogs once in a while
He doesn't want to do what has me smile

Asked him to move away from her
It only took three years for him to stir
Asked him to help me here at this home
I couldn't even walk with the legs I own

Asked for a man to be a man to me
It's no wonder I trust no man completely
Asked for a husband I'm not getting one
So why bother to ask as it will not be done.
