Bright shiny baubles
On Christmas trees
Wading through tinsel
Up to our knees
A fight breaks out
Give that angel to me
Naughty children
Just can't agree
Dad's tried the lights
And they went bust
Perhaps they were covered
In last year's rust
Mum's making a pot of tea
Her head is beginning to ache
When she remembers
The number of mince pies she's got to bake
The dog has gone mad
As the lights suddenly flash on
And within a minute
The darn things had gone
The cat is chewing
On Santa's head
Hang it on the tree quick
Then it's time for the toddlers to go to bed
Someone stepped on the aerosol
There's fake snow stuck everywhere
Picking it off the furniture
It went off just like a flare
Too many things are on one branch
And the tree began to lean
Wobbling and toppling
They all began to scream
Caught it just in time
Before “TIMBER!!” was shouted
The lights popped on again, ho ho ho!
To those who doubted
Some real biscuits were baked
Specially to dangle from a leaf
Where did they go
I think there is a thief
The fairy is the last
She's been sitting alone all night
Stick her on top
Just above that little light
Ahh, the tree looks impressive
All it needs is a sprinkle of star dust
Soon be Christmas Eve and
A happy one you can trust!!
