Gramma sat in her rocking chair
Reminiscing... while enjoying the fire
Telling tales of childhood, with a flair
As we listened,hour after hour
She loved to talk of "Christmastime"
Having fun, while decorating their tree
With strings of popcorn, line after line
And bright red berries, for all to see
Smiling, she'd tell of the wrapping's
They hand colored and made real bright
Then they'd cut and shape pretty ribbons
Until the present was wrapped, just right
Outside...She would hear the sounds
Of her Dad, hitching horses to the Sleigh
With family piled in, making their rounds
Delivering presents, on Christmas day
It was Christmas Eve in their Village
Bells rang, as snow spiraled in the air
Happy faces smiling, nodding "Hello"
Spreading love and ....Holiday cheer
A Nativity scene sat in their Village
So brightly lighted, for all to adore
Everyone made sure to visit there
That's what "Christmastime" was for
To celebrate the birth of the Lord
With love, peace and goodwill
Everyone sharing...In one accord
Worshiping, all fell silent and still
Then Gramma, brushed away a tear
"Enough of my stories, for now"
So enraptured, we felt we were there
It felt good reminiscing with Gramma
. . . For a while.
