Walking on a shadowy, frosty evening
Coats wrapped snug
Your arm around my shoulders
Warm as the proverbial bug
The moon casts her light across your face
Your eyes are the blue of a deep lagoon
Treading briskly beside you
Hoping to reach home soon
Temperatures are steadily dipping
It's past freezing and my ears are turning numb
We stop beneath a solitary lamp-post
A hip-flask full of sailor's rum
I look to you to tell you
Just how much you mean to me
But my words roll out on a whisper of cold air
And disappear on an icy sea
