Poetry For Everyday People
Alone With Our Minds
What I feel
is complex
what I think
is amazing
what I dream
is beyond
yet when the mood strikes
I ride it all easy
in poems
I solve it all
one kiss at a time
loneliness of the mind
is always there
for all of us
the places we go
all day
all night
all the time
in our minds
as we drink beers
at the bar
as we sit at desks
at work
as we ride the bus home
looking at each other
checking out each other
what goes on
in that vast universe
of blood and memories
sending messages to
every inch of us
all day
they can't take that
they would if they could
but they can't
walking home slow
carrying a pizza
a bottle of red wine
our minds a world
in motion
we lock our doors
light our candles
slip off the world
do what needs done.
is complex
what I think
is amazing
what I dream
is beyond
yet when the mood strikes
I ride it all easy
in poems
I solve it all
one kiss at a time
loneliness of the mind
is always there
for all of us
the places we go
all day
all night
all the time
in our minds
as we drink beers
at the bar
as we sit at desks
at work
as we ride the bus home
looking at each other
checking out each other
what goes on
in that vast universe
of blood and memories
sending messages to
every inch of us
all day
they can't take that
they would if they could
but they can't
walking home slow
carrying a pizza
a bottle of red wine
our minds a world
in motion
we lock our doors
light our candles
slip off the world
do what needs done.
