Time and time and time again
I attempt an impossible feat
A poem of perfection
A slice of magnificence
But I am left rattled
And run away in defeat
Time and time and time again
My pen channels beautiful words
And then I go off
And jumble them up
Ruffle the feathers
Of innocent birds
Why can't I accomplish my heartfelt desire
Why does the poetical symmetry conspire
To thwart my dreams of heavenly verse
Leaving me a shattered soul to nurse
Ravenous are the words as they leap to my page
Flawless diamonds set in rolls of pure gold
If only I could touch them with the care they deserved
If only I could deem to be so bold
