Secure TreeThe tree is secure now It's tied to the ceiling and walls, The cat won't knock it over While playing with the Christmas bulbs. He can be quite the critter When it comes to the Christmas tree, Seeing all the lights flashing He will not let them be. He loves shiny things They really catch his eye, Tries to play with everything Climbs up the tree so high. He used to knock the tree over Every Christmas, that came around, He'd have everything in a messy pile After the tree had come down. How would he get to the top now Where the tree holds the star? He'll stack the presents like they were stairs Then, it wouldn't seem very far. Copyright Cynthia Jones Dec.11/2007 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
