Rubin ‘Hurricane' Carter.

I watched the film I cried and sobbed,
For the years of the life that Rubin was robbed.
I hate racism and I abhor what it means!
In my head I rage, my heart it screams!

Screams for the injustice of it all!
And of how Rubin had to take that ‘fall!'
It took away his years, locked away in hell!
Before his sorry sad tale he did tell!

I watched that film; it broke my heart in two,
Don't know how he survived it, what did he do?
He didn't do anything, nothing at all!
He was set up big time, to take a huge fall!

I am saddened this day, beyond words can tell,
For the life he was robbed of, his life in hell!
The Canadians who worked hard to set him free,
Are one hell of some hero's for the fight for he!

And I watched and I cried, and I hated with hate!
Over the trials and retrials and the awful debate!
Do they convict him again; of course they do!
Why? Well that's apparent to me, as it should be to you!

Racism! That's the word that I am using well!
The very thing that sent Rubin to hell!
How can they do it, how can they lie!
What is the reason, why does it cause me to cry?

The reason is mine, for me to know!
I hate all racism…and I wish it would go!
But while people judge colour, creed and gender!
The world won't change, won't surrender!

Well I hate the hate that we have to live within!
How can anyone win a fight that he can't win?
