Poetry For Everyday People

Rewind

Man I hate
when I relive
pain, anger, ugly
moments, sadness,

reliving these times
is quiet draining,
lingering pain
is company I care
not for,

eats at us
too much,
going back to
what we can't beat
what beat us once
now beating us again,
and I try to think
about the good things,
pick up a book, go have
a beer, mind control,
hug my girl, dig my
hand in soil, plant
a magic tree,
I wanna learn to go
back and beat the pain,

living our lives
mostly working
for a roof,
a week off,
waiting
for the day our idea
hits it big,
our lotto ticket,
our music, our book,
our movie, our toaster
with automatic
cream cheese spreader,
our penny stock,

and I guess
as long as we're
working on a way out
a better way, a chance,
as long as we're still
looking out the window
we're still in the game
scared but resilient,

moving forward.
