Poetry For Everyday People
My Girl
I wish
I would have
found her sooner,
at times,
I feel
I arrived late,
she's done
seen too many ugly
things,
bad things,
life's misery
cornered her,
a few times,
I was far
tanning in hell,
she's seen
too much,
too early,
too easy,
scared,
has a candle out,
and I curse myself
for not getting there
sooner,
even though
right
on time,
I hold her
pure,
as the sun
will
always be,
this love,
is the kind,
that can
anything,
the kind
they write
about,
she's safe.
I would have
found her sooner,
at times,
I feel
I arrived late,
she's done
seen too many ugly
things,
bad things,
life's misery
cornered her,
a few times,
I was far
tanning in hell,
she's seen
too much,
too early,
too easy,
scared,
has a candle out,
and I curse myself
for not getting there
sooner,
even though
right
on time,
I hold her
pure,
as the sun
will
always be,
this love,
is the kind,
that can
anything,
the kind
they write
about,
she's safe.
