Carol's Journey

Psalm 1 Roots of a Tree

Once a tree takes root in the ground
Bark begins to make layers all around
The trunk becomes its firm foundation
God formed it that way in His creation

Some trees produce fruit for man to eat
As it grows, it gives shade from the heat
With leaves that change color, then fall
A beauty to behold that God is over all

The Word of God becomes like a seed
Planted in all who listen and take heed
As we grow, it will take root in our life
Giving us direction in the midst of strife

The wicked live solely by Satan's lies
In the end, their soul will perish and die
The righteous know Jesus is the Light
Meditating on His Word is their delight

When storms come the righteous will stand
Their faith is firmly anchored in God's plan
The ways of the wicked are basically dead
With no root, they will blow away instead

Psalm 1:3 (NIV)
He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf
does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
