Someday Never Comes

Dear grandmother...
I miss you....
you don't deserve that much
let me take back those three little words
impossible at best the hope I once had
that you could be a different person,
the hateful words
the remembered neglect
the cries of your children
though silent is still in effect

I hope I never turn out to be like you
when I am old and gray
so angry at the world
love has been drained
thinking of you
my heart hurts....
it's painful...why do I miss you so?
you never were that warm
you never were that loving
maybe it's just in name only....

You built your rooms
you built your walls
you kept us outside of it all
I don't want to break through anymore
the last bit of fight has left
the family is washing their hands done
I guess it really is true in some cases
someday never comes....
