WORDS ON A SCREEN
Pale streamers
of light
made dingy
by the cold
struggle
through the
clouds outside
my window
And I sit
at the keys
silently
keenly
watching
and waiting
for word
from you
just a word,
that's all
I feel
so hungry
devoid
and fidget
as my insides
gnaw away
at my
psyche
Brain numb
fingers icy
poised and
at the ready
wanting
nothing more
than for you to
speak to me
just a word,
that's all
You said
silence is
but a friend
I guess
you meant it
but all I can
do is
want you
here
And I know
that I
shouldn't
yes, I know
that you're
hiding
from what
we both need
just a word,
that's all
But your
silence speaks
volumes
and I guess
I should
be happy
in this
certainty
You gave
me your
soul, your
deep things
your trust
your true
self through
and through
Say the word…
I'll fall
