 The Day I met Buddha
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

As dusk came over the worlds edge
Making promises that none can pledge
The storm clouds rumbled and the lightening struck
And not for the first time in my life, I was stuck
The rain came down like a real April shower
So I took cover under a tree for an hour
The smell of the storm and natures scent
A perfect time for me too repent.
I didn't notice my shadow becoming two
As this figure appeared, I asked, "Who are you?"
He was an old man but yet looked young
One of those people that always reminds you of someone
He was bald and had blue eyes
He seemed calm, as though seeing me was no surprise?

"My name is not important my friend" he said
He sat down next to me leaning against the tree, resting his head
He looked out into the countryside
As he sat silently by my side
I didn't feel anxious or scared
I looked at his wise, kind face, as he just stared
"What do you want? And what you doing out here"
He continued to stare out at the storm "What do you fear?"
"None your business you weirdo, who are you anyway?"
He smiled "would you rather me go away?"
I pulled a face and shrugged my shoulders
"Nah it's alright my mum always said respect your elders"

He smiled and said "what brings you out here to the wood"
I sighed " I feel lost at the moment and very misunderstood.."
" I have suffered much loss in such a short space of time.."
"And I feel punished for an unjust crime…"
" I am lonely and feel nothing without love in my heart.."
"I'm scared too, scared of the unknown, scared of pain"
"I need change in my life but yet I want the same.."
"I feel like a young lion cub left to wander the plains.."
"I'm sick and tired of lifes games…"
"Without my rock in my life I am but a blade of grass"
"And I just want this pain to go and these feelings to pass"
"I feel I have come to the end of the first half of my life"
" I want stability, love, children and a wife.."
"I am sick of the city, bored with some of my friends.."
"I seem to be walking paths which have no ends…"
"So why do I come here to the wood and sit under this tree?"
"I come here, to close my eyes and rediscover me.."
"Anyway I am sorry, you don't want hear my souls woes"
"I guess this is just life, and that's the way it goes?"

The stranger, continued to stare out
Smiling he said " You're wondering what life is all about.."
"Always seeking? Stop, ask yourself, what are you avoiding?"
"Avoiding?" I asked "what do you mean avoiding?"
Still smiling he said "You are an adventurer are you not?"
"Seeking for new things? You're avoiding, and now you must stop!"
"Hurt have you been in the past? Lost much that was you, no doubt?"
"And you're searching to know what life is all about"
"Foundations that supported your sensitive soul have now gone.."
"Blaming yourself for things in which you have done no wrong?"
"Much sadness I see in you, much pain, much hurt and anger too!"
"You have lost a huge part of what was you.."
"So to find yourself again you must embrace what you avoid so bad"
"And then you can move on, from what once you had!"

The thunderstorm and the rain hid my cries
I silently said "But everything I love leaves me or dies.."
"I need to start a fresh I know, but my own death scares me"
"What am I avoiding? I am avoiding mortality"

He looked at me then, eyes seemed like the universe
"Death my friend and mortality, is a blessing, not a curse"
"Let me tell you why I come out here to the woods"
"Why from time to time I escape the inner city neighbourhoods"
"Life and death are the same, all part of the circle"
"We are all part of one huge miracle"
"I come to the woods to speak to my friends and family"
"Who are parts of nature, here and everywhere for all eternity"
"One day we learn to escape this circle and find enlightenment"
"Be at is a human, a raindrop, a cloud or even an elephant"
"What pain you have suffered will be rewarded although not now"
"If not in this life then in another somehow"

"You on drugs mate?" I asked the guy
"Surely it's the end when we die?"
There was no answer, and the rain soon stopped
And where the stranger once sat, was only a raindrop
I get up and look for him
But the woods here are thick with undergrowth and rather dim
"Oh Mate!! Hello!!..Hello!!"
But all i got back was an echo.
