A good while ago now
Back in my time~
I remember old time religion
Ever simple and fine~
That old time religion
And the rules that went with same~
So much of which now doctored
But here Gods not to blame~
The greatest book ever to be written
And now edited to no end~
With endless different versions
Yet with such we must contend~
Becomes ever so confusing
It was all once simplicity~
Written with steadfast words of God
Inspired by his son for you and me~
Old time religion
Not the same anymore~
However a good few do still practice
Those old words we once did adore~
Regardless of whom
Or where from upon earth~
There was but one God
Every man all the same worth~
Created in his likeness
Thats what the book says~
But not according to things now
Not in this day and age~
But I still remain so
As it all was back then~
A soul of old time religion
I shall be till when~
As it all once was
Never will be anymore~
That old time religion
The one we all once did adore~
But the one thing that matters
Is that we know since time had begun~
His wish and his expectations
Is that all upon earth be as one~
