FAR AWAY PLACES CALLING ME

FAR AWAY PLACES CALLING ME

I held the conch shell to my ear
The sound of waves whispering to me clear

Images of distance shores danced in my mind
inviting places for me to find

Sunny days - moon lit nights
balmy winds softly caressing my skin - feels so right

Coconut trees swaying in the breeze
pelicans with mouths full of fish-caught with ease

Porpoise with their smiling faces
traveling to far away places

Conch shell whispering  soft and clear
biding me "come near, come near"

My finger traces the outline of the shell
as I lay it to rest in its place on my shelf

To answer its call of the far away places
will have to wait for another day
Here is where I have to stay-at the rat races
