Dead Dreams

We go through a whole lot of hell
for a little taste of honey
We try laughing through the pain
      but life's not funny
While waiting for the long night to pass
But once the sun is reborn
we scrape away the hard ash
Though sometimes we long to go back
    to those painful goals
But we know the taste of the honey
   will dry up our souls
Because the joyful clouds come with harsh pains
Even though they appear sent from heaven
Our souls are forced back down in a hard rain
        upon the earth
And there in the shadows of time
    our tears forever burst
