In the Valley of Despair

Down in the lowly valley
where hungry babies wept
Mothers couldn't rest
while rich men gently slept
and rose early to taste
   caviar and sweet wine
These are just a few things
constantly hanging on our minds
But peace doesn't come free,
  Neither a child filled
Reality is her own cruel beast
    whom destiny sealed
Sealed very deep in the valley
  where poor men cry,
Hope has no eyes they say
  and they don't know why
while searching the barren land,
 looking hard for anything
in the shadows of the dry sand
These are some of the curses we
  face in these times
These are a few of the things
  hanging on our minds
