With great determination I fall into step
to the steady beating of the drums.
In a long grey line I willingly march
toward the bloody conflict ahead.
With musket raised and bayonet flashing,
I charge valiantly through the smoky haze
toward the long,steady blue line,
with a shrill Rebel yell upon my lips.
With determination and steady courage
I fight my way forward with musket balls
blazing round my head determined to fight
til the bloody end.
When the dust is at last settled and
the smoke cleared I lie upon my back gazing
into the clear blue skies with dulled
eyes and know that the war
is at last over for me.
