Poetry For Everyday People

Sunset In My Wine Glass

I can see the moon
through her branches
the stars between
her toes
deep in the earth
the light shining up
as I slide down it
and suddenly
float

high on wine
my eyes a hazel
fire of need
as I spit butterflies
at a melting
Key West sun
winking inside
my wine glass

a perfect painting
me sitting back
wine glass in hand
butterflies all around
soft wind on fresh cut
grass growing
a sail boat dancing
on shimmering blue water
a dog chasing dreams

a poet patiently
waiting
for the right
moment.
