A Soldier's Cry

Called in for duty at a moments notice.
One of three boys and I'm not even the oldest.
I signed up for duty to fight for freedom and protect our country.
So I can't back down,I'm really afraid but,It's too late to turn around.
I'm worried and afraid of not coming back.
And if I do come back will all of my limbs be attached.
This young boy is now forced to be a man.
No more calling on daddy when I need a helping hand.
Training camp Sergeant's yelling as loud as they can in my ear.
I'm taking this abuse as I fight to hold back the tears.
Off to a country I barely know anything about.
My conscience is taking a toll on me I'm having doubts.
Looking over my shoulder holding back the cries.
This boy is now a soldier.
Praying every night of combat we all make it home alive.
To our mothers, fathers, children and our wives.
How long would we be here does anyone know.
The assignment could last for years.
How I miss my family so.
The fights with my brothers,
I really never had a chance to say goodbye.
Water flaring up in my eyes,
No one ever told me A Soldier Cries....
