Heart Of The Matter

Hopeful Dream

Photobucket

A hopeful dream lay shattered,
The heart has turned to stone,
And I don't have time to fix it,

I'm leaving him alone,

So broken are the promises,
He tried so hard to keep,
We could have climbed a mountain,
But the road for him, too steep,

He had a choice, he made it,
Betrayal was his name,
Forgiveness comes so easily,
But it never tastes the same,

And dreams I should have shared with him,
I now hold in my hand,
But it's the way; he turned his back on me,

I'll never understand.
