Petals In The Grass
Never
Taught not to think
Born to feel nothing
Spawned by animals
Who were never cordial
And were always cold
I shutter at the thought
Of their raging eyes
That only saw the bad
In me
Never a hug
Never a kiss
Never a delicate touch
My tormentors live on
In my mind
Feeding on my sanity
A joyless reality
Is what's left
Surviving day to day
In this shell of a man
Comfortless
Born to feel nothing
Spawned by animals
Who were never cordial
And were always cold
I shutter at the thought
Of their raging eyes
That only saw the bad
In me
Never a hug
Never a kiss
Never a delicate touch
My tormentors live on
In my mind
Feeding on my sanity
A joyless reality
Is what's left
Surviving day to day
In this shell of a man
Comfortless
