This is where I lived and grew, my childhood family home
A life full of adventures where I used to daily roam.
I grew to be a rancher here, climbed every hill and draw
Now I reflect and share about, all I did and saw.
I can take you hiking, to the top of my favorite hill
or we can play together with my pet lamb, Buffalo Bill.
We can milk old Maude, the milk cow, or jump on, my horse, Grandma, to ride
Wherever we go whatever we do we will share this countryside.
Some days we might go fishing and catch some feisty trout
or climb the cliff on the cactus hill, my sanity you'll doubt.
We might climb up on the bomb and lie there in the sun
then play that we are cowboys, riding home in the setting sun.
Lets spend a day together reliving my childhood fun
We'll run, climb, laugh and adventure until the day is done.
My Daddy was born here in 1919 and I grew up here from 1955 to 1980. We raised sheep, cattle and small grains including wheat, oats and barley.
The house was enlarged as time went on, but started as my Grandfather's homestead. He was a Danish immigrant. My Grandmother homesteaded here too
as she took over a homestead from a man who gave up. This was a hard country at times and my Grandpa used to make moonshine to make money to survive.
The valley in the background is the Beaverhead valley, where Dillon, Montana lies. The mountains in the background are the Pioneer range.
The three most prominent peaks are Baldy, Tory and Tweety. I think that Tweety mountain is the highest elevation in the Pioneer Mountain range.
