in the countryin the country fields of corn at dawn sparrows morning chorus awakes our day the hare skips and jumps amongst the hay the tractor ploughs the furrow fields the farmer sits down to his morning breakfast meal the church bell rings out across the dell all is well in dorset the pastor prays his common prayer the congregation gathers their love to share the village clock its chimes the hour the daffodils reveal their flower the barn is full the cows are in the Meadows sweet the chickens pecking at my feet the cock does crow and the pigs they snort the magistrate goes off to court the village idiot wakes up for tea calls good evening to you and me the boys and girls are dressed for school and Mary Jane cant find her shoe the sun is bright up in the sky and all your dreams they hurry by the poet rises from his bed and wonders of the thoughts within his head the swans are gliding on the river flow and now its time for work i have to go Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
