The Things Fate Does DoShe had been so lonely He had been same for the longest time~ Both from different lifestyles From different sides of town and railway line~ A friend had asked him if he would Like to come one day on his yacht~ And this friend having a wife of his own Asked her invite a friend she'd got~ The day arrived and the four of them Set out upon a trip so grand~ Away out on an island cruise So far away that day from land~ The weather it was beautiful The ocean it was calm as could be~ And they all soaked up the sun As they sailed across the sea~ Enjoying yes a drink or two Time went by beneath blue sky Two married two never had they met~ The two married they later went below The other two stayed up top till sun was set~ The yacht had been sailing on it's own As it was fixed to one direction~ away out there upon the ocean blue No real need then for inspection~ When the married two they had returned To the deck no one was there~ And search as they might have done They could not find them anywhere~ It seems that the other two Decided to go for a swim~ And the water looking ever so clear The both of them dived in~ Before anyone had noticed The yacht had simply sailed away~ And left these two to swim what seemed forever So late within the light of day~ It came to be they saw an island Not all that far to swim~ So off they went with all they had Though the light was growing dim~ Next morning they realized there they were Together laying upon the sand~ On a beach away and distant island in the sea He first took her by the hand~ They came to know what had been it's so And no sign of yacht to see~ So they made their way up the beach Into the shade that be~ He end up building a hut of bark And made a temporary home~ And these two now where alone and how And very much upon their own~ There was coconuts and fruit about And fire wood galore~ And a little spring that ran slow All the way down to the shore~ After being there for a whole six months They had survived so very well~ Away out upon the vastest ocean And yes they lived to tell~ They had with love and blessings from above Become so close with care~ And both now had indeed become one with endless love and time to share~ If these two had not gone that day It's a sure thing they would not have met~ The things fate does do in life The plan for lifelong love was set~ Terrence Michael Sutton copyright 2008 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem
