visit to st anns

   tonight i visited st Ann's
      they had painted the grounds
      the trees and the squirrels
i thought i was in another world
      the psychiatrist beckoned me
invited me in to stay for tea

the staff wore uniforms of red and white
and the patients were well out sight
      it was a weird place
      the sandbanks were high
      and the water was blue
it was overlooking the best view in Poole

      studland was not far away
and Dr sulk asked me to stay
      for a holiday
      it was a surprise
but i noticed the funny look in his eyes

the gym was full with active care
      someone felt sorry for me
      offered me a chair
the toilets were unblocked its true
but the weather clock chimed ten past two

      it was a funny day
then someone escorted me to the loo
though i didn't want to go
      they said it was time
later on i gained a friend
he said I'm not a patient yet
i just pretend keeps em appy

the staff were friendly as could be
made me a nice cup of tea
      tasted funny
      someone whispered bromide
      so i asked for another
      for my invisible brother

at ten to four they closed the door
      after everyone had absconded
      including the staff
      and my brother
