Ethereal Moments The Poetry of Donavon Scott Vinson
The Last Ride of A Soldier
Through the beautiful countryside,
over the pristine lakes,
and over the majestic mountains we go
until we reach the mournful town.
Yet I see none of it,for I lie
cold, dark and still in my gleaming,
silvery flag draped casket aboard
the long,black funeral train.
Women weep,children cry,and men mourn
as I pass slowly by on my way to Arlington.
A heroes welcome there I shall receive for
my heroic actions upon the battlefields.
My life I gladly gave to protect the freedoms
of my country so that others could live freely.
For I am a soldier of the United States Army.

***To all the soldiers out there giving it their all
on on foreign soil so that we may remain free.***
God bless you and may you return home safely!!!
