Tattoos in Mayberry

52,325 poems read

They're on the move

they're on the make

Where else can you partake,

in a slice of cartwheel buttermilk cake

But, on The Boulevard

where you'll get all you want

a tawdry taste of what you need

Best you stay awake

for a double take

with your ice cream

and tube steak.

On The Boulevard.

you can barter your wares

As minstrals do time

serenading lonely hearts

converting  sad,  frowns

into hopeful smiles

and into their tip cup

maybe this time

goes nickels, quarters, dollars or dimes..

If you ain't got alot

there's still room for your lot

better shake what you've got.

on The Boulevard
