Compromise
To Roddy on his 39th birthday love you loads Mum xxx
Ah today you`re thirty-nine
And you know it is the time
To do the things you know you must
And to learn again to trust
Next year you will be at the gate
Of forty, but it`s not too late
To begin your life anew
New choices, they will come to you
Life I know is sometimes tough
And you feel you`ve had enough
But when one door is closing fast
Another opens, not the past
New beginnings are the thing
Being thirty-nine will bring
Everything that you can be
Is there for all the world to see
Just believe and time will show
You can be happy and will know
You are loved an awful lot
Look again at what you`ve got
Have a happy day today
Not too late to laugh and play
Life goes on, it passes by
Do not waste it, do not cry
Ten years from now where will you be
If you let yourself be free
Will you be happy all alone
The kids all gone, and far from home
I think you are the best of men
And I hope you`ll try again
Perhaps together you will find
Compromise, and peace of mind
