I wish there was a simple way,
To find someone to love,
We search and search every day,
Hoping for guidance from above.
We have our hopes of finding the one,
That we want to spend time with,
Most often though we end up with none,
And then love becomes a myth.
The illusive butterfly that we chase,
Keeps avoiding us at every turn,
We even look heavenward for God's grace,
In finding that for which we yearn.
One alone can make a life,
And be happy after a fashion,
But two together can overcome strife,
And share a life with passion.
Having another by your side,
Not in front or in back of you,
Can help each other to provide,
Everything you ever wish to persue.
Having someone to give you a smile,
When you don't have one of your own,
A kind word, a touch of the hand,
That look that lets you know you're not alone.
This is what we wish for,
This is what makes us thrive,
Having someone that reflects you in their eyes,
Makes us feel we can survive.
