Heart Of The Matter
Cock-A-Doodle-Do!
There is a world outside the walls,
I choose to hide behind,
Where people throng in garish light,
That leaves your senses blind,
They're queuing at the check out,
With trolleys fit to burst,
The credit cards are ready,
With cash back for the purse,
The young man swiping groceries,
Is just a boy to me,
He'd been to see a hypnotist,
Last seen on BBC,
He's making conversation,
Oblivious to the queue,
He'd never been a chicken,
Speaking cock-a-doodle-do”,
So obviously delighted,
It seems he stole the show,
I look at him in wonderment,
It's time for me to go,
It never ceases to amaze me,
The things that people do,
And whilst he's swiping groceries,
He entertains the queue.
