Hush...the night is sleeping,
Like the cows in the barns.
Cats, stalking...
Meowing to their mates,
Slyly they watch, waiting...
Ready to attack!
Hens clucking, disturbing no-one,
The town sleeps.
The hens, gone...taken,
Like the dark,
Disappeared - engulfed!
Fires ebbing away,
Damped down for the night!
The air, mingled with smoke and rain.
Drizzle damping the tiles!
Barn doors, rattling in the wind!
Cattle unnerved, stalked...
By the foxes running free!
Farmers sleeping, tossing, turning,
In dream...toiling,
Wearily farming the land!
Babies waking, wanting, crying,
Needing to be fed...
Children, tormenting mothers...
Scuttle off to school,
Ready for another day!
Coming alive, the town wakes!
Hustle bustle noises.
Shopkeepers waiting,
Selling their wares!
Another day begins,
Another night ends...
