 Eye of the Beholder
What if an Angel came down from heaven,
To protect and guide us thru life.
To provide us with God's own grace and even,
Eliminate all evil and strife?

Now imagine if you can that instead of beauty,
This Angel was twisted and torn,
Would we look upon her with scorn and disdain,
Instead of as a gift for the reborn.

Would this cause us to refuse this gift,
To us from the Lord above,
Would it cause us to be adrift,
From God's will, God's plan and God's love?

How do we know what God sees as pretty,
When we only have our eyes,
If we looked inward to see our own pity,
Then we could feel our soul rise.

Now instead of an Angel imagine another person,
That did not choose how they were born,
How can you be cruel and make their feelings worsen,
When but for fate this could be you feeling that scorn.

So see what is really there before your eyes,
Not in your head but in your heart,
Remember that this is another human being,
Looking to you for a fresh start.
