Do you flinch as a raindrop falls?
Do you shake as the wind starts to blow?
Why then if an ugly word is spoken
Do you cringe and become so low?
What power do you give to them?
As you own the thought they plant?
When really they are insignificant
If we just ignore and hold our stance
Many will try to destroy you
Only you will allow this to be
Their words fall vainly scattered
As you walk on intact and free
Only you give credence to others words
As in your mind you allow an image to grow
For the cruelty they have uttered
In our thoughts doubts start to sow
Nobody can ever control you
If you stay true to whom you are
Only when you believe them
Will others hurt you from afar?
Hold fast to the love within you
And pain cannot be or scar
Forgive them in their anger and rage
Walk on the strong person you are
You can never change their ways
But you alone know who you want to be
Live in the truth within yourself
To ensure you will always be free.
