 THE TRAVELING LIFELONG BUSH POET

Little Children

When little children they are born
They come I think with an ability~
To see and imagine ever so many other entities
Within all their innocence and sincerity~
We as adults now grown away from that
Try soon to take their little dreams away~
All the fairies and elves and gnomes and things
The very seeing of the real entities they see I say~
In many cases we want them to grow up soon
I really do not ever know just why~
As we as adults know whats waiting for them
And will be until the day they die~
Children now so small this day and age
Do not so much believe in Santa true~
I think this is an honest sin
Taking those things from children as some do~
And now we see almost every day
Children born right into war~
Becoming as the adults are
I've seen it on T V and swore~
While they are just little children
It should be compulsive to say the least~
That they can all remain just little children
Before they grow up into a world of woe and beast~
It's not fair that little children
Should ever have to know~
Of a world of trauma
Not until they grow~
It's not fair that little children
Should ever have to be~
Anything but little children
Till childhood sets them free~
