 A feather in the Storm

A Feather in a storm

So lost in the world
As darkness fell
Sleeping under the stars
What a tale she could tell?
Never to feel cherished
Or be wanted entirely
She waited all through life
But just stayed empty
For when she was small
She craved to feel sure
That she was a good girl
She asked for no more
But never was she shown this
Far too busy were they
So time passed her by
Love never coming her way
Some said they loved her
Just to use and discard
Adding to her lack of worth
Leaving her battered and scarred
She was never told
She was someone, someone great
So when it really happened
To her it was too late
She could not accept it
Inside she felt numb
Never loving herself
So how could anyone?
See her as desirable?
Someone of worth
She stayed in the shadows
As she'd done since her birth
Now totally alone
A self fulfilling prophecy
A tragedy, but how often
Now do we see?
Lives lost and discarded
Due to childhood's being lost
Through no fault of their own
they find out to their cost
That as they have never loved themselves
They will feel wanted never
Like a feather in a storm
Lost emotionally forever
