Poetry For Everyday People

Long Night

Her eyes are as pretty
as diamonds in the rain
she's my girl

you mother f's
don't know
what this house
smells like

candles burning
lilac
cotton
black cherry
cinnamon
lavender
jasmine
cup cake

memories
stirred up
by fools

we can have
a 401K
by not spending
on candles
but
we need these
smells

love melting
in sofas
climbing walls
exploding
in wine bottles
open for the sky
to pour something real

blowing out
the last candle
of the night

remembering
we're not dead.
