Writing poetry is new to me,
But I found I love it so,
Putting thoughts down for everyone to see,
Allows me to let people know.
What is in my mind at any given time,
All my inner worries and woes,
Putting them down in lines of rhyme,
So that you can come and read my prose.
But troubles and strife are not all that life,
Can hold for the true of heart,
New horizons can be seen in a new light,
So we can have a brand new start.
To start one's life all over again,
At this stage of life,
Is a challenge I face with a great big grin,
Cause I no longer have to deal with the wife!
Now I don't mean to sound critical of her,
I am sure she had her reasons too,
I don't suppose it could be the affair,
She had with that trucker….do you?
Anyway life is renewed,
For me at least it is,
No reason to sit around and brood,
I am determined to live.
Wonderful things are held in store,
For those that seek them in earnest,
So now the world I am going to explore,
Guess I have to stoke up the old furnace.
My point is this and I am sure you will agree,
That we can only speak for ourselves,
One thing I know that I can guarantee,
I will not be sitting on a shelf.
So look out world, here I come,
This time I will make such a splash,
I will write until my fingers are numb,
And live the words that I cache.
