EYES
Lifeless eyes
Eyes that weep
Red rimmed from agony
The pain is too deep
Sleep is postponed
Tossing and turn
Bleeding heart open
So much to learn
Dull is the gaze
Anchored in hurt
Promises of love
Ground into dirt
Days of turmoil
Hope upon hope
Where will it end
Learning to cope
Slow are the days
An ache sears the soul
Wisdom deserted
Abandon the goal
Dreams plummet low
The sun disappears
A solitary existence
Drenched in old fears
