INTO THIS HELL
Every day
we separate ourselves,
farther and faster,
from the Source
of our existence
Insulated in towers
of concrete and steel,
blockading our bodies,
surrounded by asphalt arteries,
we can barely breathe
We no longer
hear the heartbeat
the Earth makes,
once tuned
to the rhythm
of our own
From time indefinite
to time indefinite
it was meant to be
Yet daily we push ourselves
further away from the
lifeblood of nature
thus creating
an anemic perseity
We kill and destroy
a piece of ourselves
with each apathetic action,
with each selfish step we take
Embrace the sky,
nurture the sea,
love the land,
till the soil,
be stewards of
the planet
Lest you hasten your own
descent into a
living hell
