VALERIE VANHALEN

Mrs. Edward VanHalen you were
Trying to imagine being her
The woman he married
His baby you carried

Now the babies in the band
Barely a child almost a man
Your son, I think of him
Mommy, how you love him
Heard you say you worry
'Bout him growing up in a big hurry

Uncle, father, son
David Lee Roth on
The stage
With youth and age
Playing together
Out lasts the weather
Of divorce
Of course

As you've forgiven
To go on living
Your life as Valerie Bertinelli
And you probably won't tell me
About the hard times
As he played his rhymes
And you were there alone
Awaiting the phone
At three in the morning
To ring with the warning

That the parties finally done
And being married to number one
Ain't cut up to all it's meant to be
When you're alone and he is free
Drinking
It's stinking
Women
The sin with 'em
Too much to endure
For any woman I'm sure
Women have to be a mans alone
And when they are not as the bird has flown

They will revert to crying games
Where this emotionality blames
The ring on the finger
Is not enough if you're the bringer
Of guitar licks
That move these chicks
To dreaming of him
Then stopping, there's them
Many surely out there
Didn't care
About the pretty woman at home
They took your bone
From your dog
Tightening the cog

Another notch
Love being botched
Because of that damn guitar
World star
Never hardly home at night
Wasn't right
Aquarius man is for all
While for one there's fall
It's a lesson
In don't be messin'
Around with another man
If he wears a wedding band

'Cause the pressure it will kill ya
As the guilt inside will fill ya
Up with remorse
Until the damn divorce
Goes through
Being human's all there is to do
Damn hot mama on now
Turning heads with her wow o wow
Getting older is getting better
You appreciate that the sunny weather

Has to shine from you inside
For you to smile on this life's ride
You laugh and turn your head away
You dream of tommorrow---live today
Valerie unVanHalened
Into her own life sailing
As I write this tale
To wish all well

Thoughts gleaned from a simple poet
Even if perhaps I shouldn't show it
The thoughts that come eccentrically
As vibrations hell bent to me
With Memorex and sound
Spirit bound

Up most of the night
To see the light
That always comes
For one so dumb
As I can be
Musing over if I were Valerie.
